Why This Library Exists
Built for evidence, not just illustration
IFML supports field use, teaching, research, and digitization workflows with more than just specimen scans.
Research-ready files
Archival packages preserve fine structure for morphometrics, visual analysis, and long-term reference use.
Teaching-ready assets
Photos, cleaned specimen media, and practical derivatives are easier to use in labs, lectures, field guides, and extension materials.
Citable records
Published records, datasets, and supporting resources can be distributed through Zenodo with stable DOIs and open licensing.

What Is IFML?
The Iowa Forestry Media Library (IFML) is an open-access digital archive for forestry media and supporting resources including high-resolution scans, field and specimen photos, datasets, SOPs, toolkits, and related documentation.
High-fidelity digitization remains a major part of the project, with capture workflows reaching up to 2400 DPI when needed for detailed structures. Published materials are paired with clear documentation so they are easier to reuse in research, teaching, extension, and workflow development.
Depending on the record, IFML may provide Access Packages, Archival Packages, datasets, or supporting files released through Zenodo with stable DOIs and open licensing.
